قاص وروائي مصري من مواليد الأقصر٬ مصر٬عام 1967. يعمل محررا لمجلة الثقافة الجديدة. فاز بالجائزة الأولى في مسابقة صحافية (أخبار الأدب) للقصة القصيرة٬ على مستوى الوطن العربي٬ عن قصة "عجلات عربة الكارو الأربعة". صدر له ثلاث مجموعات قصصية وروايتان: "الصنم" (1999) و"منافي الرب" (2013) وقد ترشحت منافى الرب لجائزة البوكر و ايضا صدرت له رواية "إنحراف حاد"

أنا "مرز"، بطل هذه الرواية التى بين يديك أيها القارئ الكريم، ربما لأنى لم أتكلم داخل الرواية سوى بضع كلمات قليلة، أتدفق الآن فى كلامى معك، ستعرف أنى عملت أعمالا عجيبة، وعظيمة، تليق بمصلح اجتماعى كبير، وأحببت زوجتى "جوهرة" كثيرا، خاطبت الناس فى نجعى بصمتى المحب، وأفعالى الساحرة، ولم أهتم كثيرا أو قليلا بصوتهم الجمعى، هذا الصوت الذى يحاول دائما أن يهمشنى، بينما، فى قرارة نفسه، يفيض إعجابا وانبهارا بأعمالى التى عملتها، أيها القارئ لبعض سيرتى هنا، أنا رأيتك من خلف سحابات الغيب، وأحببتك جدا، أعمالى هذه أهديها إليك، كما أنى بالغ ذرى المحبة لك، للدرجة التى تجعلنى أمنحك روحى ولا أبالى، فقط إقرأ "الصنم"، وضع "مرز" فى المكان اللائق به كأحد القديسين العظماء، جاء إلى العالم، وعندما رحل منه لم يرحل قبل أن يترك أثره الخالد، ثم صلِّ من أجل "جوهرة"، زوجتى التى عشقتها كما لم يعشق عاشق من قبل، وربما من بعد.
