كم حلمتُ أن أكون ساحرة، تنفرج الجدران أمامي، بخطوة واحدة أصعد سلّماً من ألف درجة... ومن ريشة طائر أصنع ناياً...
"هناك قصرٌ داثّر ومخرّب، ستعتقدين أنك دخلت القصر الخطأ، لكنك ستكملين طريقك لأنّ ذلك ليس إلا تمويها للقصر الحقيقي.
في داخل القصر المغطى بالغبار، والأشواك التي تتشابك في وجه خطواتك، أكملي طريقك، وستكتشفين أن ذلك ليس إلا وهماً مؤقتاً، يتلاشى كلما أكملت سيرك.
إذا لم تخف سلمى ولم تهب ستكمل طريقها دون أن تشعر بوخز تلك الأشواك الوهمية، ستصطفق الأبواب، وتتطاير النوافذ مفتوحة، ثم تنغلق من تلقاء نفسها، سترفرف الستائر الرثة المهترئة، وربما تلتفُ حول جسدك، لترمي الرعب في قلبك، بينما بقايا الأثاث القديم ستتبارى في إصدار الصرير، والتجوّل حولك، كما لو أنها كائنات حرة طليقة، لا تخشين كرسيّا يبدو أنه قذف فجأة صوبك، فهو لن يصيبك".
