هذا الكتاب يحتوي على نظرات جديدة، ربما لم يعتد الكثير من الناس في الزمان المعاصر أن يسمعوا بمثلها، ولكنها في حقيقتها إنما تمحضت وتعينت بعد سلسلة متطاولة من التشخصيات الفكرية الممتدة منذ أزمان عديدة. وهي من جهة ثانية تمثل نقداً أو تمهيداً لنقد حاسم للكثير من الأفكار المتداولة في عالمنا الفكري المعاصر، وربما من هنا جاءت غرابتها، وأيضاً في محاولة إحياء لما يراد إمانته، عن طريق التدليل على قوته تدليلاً عملياً.
وربما ينظر إلى هذا الكتاب على أنه إعادة تاثير لمباحث أصيلة عظيمة فكرية وعقائدية. وقد أراد مؤلفه أن يجعله حاوياً للمسائل التي ينبغي على كل كُسْلِم مفكّرٍ أن يعلمها في أصول الدين والفكر الإنساني، لا بأسلوب التعليم والتدريس لكن بأسلوب البحث والنظر، وأن يعلم أيضاً الأخطار التي تحيط به في هذه الحياة الدنيا، ليكون عارفاً بموقفه الذي يجب أن يكون من غيره ممن يعادون الدين ويعارضون، وكذلك أهل الدين ما الذي يترتب عليه في حقهم، ويكشف كثيراً من الأمور التي تداهم الدين ليكون منها على بصيرة.
وقد استلهم معظم الأفكار من كتاب الشيخ مصطفى صبري آخر مشايخ الإسلام في الدولة العثمانية المسمى (موقف العقل والعلم والعالم من رب العالمين وعباده المرسلين)، وهو كتاب فريد من نوعه، كبير الفائدة، وقد لخص أهم مطالبه ومعانيه، وزاد عليها في أكثر من موضع، وضبط مباحثه، وحاول أن يسير على هديه وطريقته فأكملها بناءً على اجتهاده وفهمه تنقيحاً وتحقيقاً وتوجيهاً، وأضاف إليها بعض المباحث التي طرأت في هذا الزمان، ليكون في هذا العمل، استئنافاً لهذا العلم الجليل وتجديداً عصرياً له.
