رغم قدم الرواية إلا أنها تفرض مقارنة مؤسفة ما بين مرحلة الانفتاح الفكري والاجتماعي في عصرها ومرحلة الانحطاط التي نعيشها اليوم... الحركة التاريخية التي لا يمكن تفادي استخلاصها هي أن شعوبنا تسير للوراء عكس حركة التطور الإنساني المفترضة
