تدور الرواية حول فتاة تعمل في القصر الملكي، تجهل هويتها الحقيقية. تراودها أحلام عن ساحر غريب. أثناء رحلة صيد، يظهر لها الساحر ويطلب منها إلقاء تعويذة على الأمير ليحبها. توافق،وسرعان ما يتعلق بها الأمير لكن تكتشف لاحقًا أن الحب كان نتيجة سحر، تترك الفتاة رسالة للأمير تعترف فيها بأنها سحرته، وتقرر الهرب مع الساحر إلى "قصر التلال" لتبدأ مغامرتها بين السحرة لتصبح ملكتهم.
الأمير يشعر بالخيانة ويسافر إلى ابن عمه الأمير المغامر الذي يعيش في مملكة عجيبة بين السماء والبحر. ينطلق مع ابن عمه وفتاة قد قابلها الأخير في أحد مغامراته ،فيتواجهه الثلاثه مع عالم السحرة في سوقهم الغريب، والغابة المظلمة، ووادي الجنيات لاكتشاف الحقيقه وحل اللغز.
