المعلّقات العشر تأليف عشرة شعراء، يضم الكتاب عشرة معلقات لعشرة شعراء من الشعر الجاهلي، هؤلاء الشعراء ومطالع معلقاتها هم: 1
- امرؤ القيس ومطلع معلقته: قِفَانَبْكِ من ذكرى حبيب ومنزل...بِسَقْطِ اللوِّىَ بينَ الدَّخولِ فَحوْمَلِ
2- طرفة بن العبد البكري ومطلع معلقته: لِخَوْلَهَ أطْلاَلٌ بِبُرْقـَةِ ثَهْمـَدِ...تَلوُحُ كَبَاقي الوَشْمِ في ظَاهِرِ اليَدِ
3- زهير بن أبي سلمى المُزني ومطلع معلقته: أَمن أُمِّ أَوفَى دِمْنة لمْ تَكَلَّـمِ.... بِحَومَانـَةِ الـدَّرَّاجِ فالمُـتَثلَّـم
4- لبيد بن ربيعة العامري ومطلع معلقته:عَفَتِ الدِّيَارُ مَحلُّهَا فَمُقَامُـهَا...بِمِنىَّ تَأَبَّدَ غَوْلُـهَا فَرِجـامُـها
5- عمرو بن كلثوم التغلبي ومطلع معلقته: ألاَ هُبَّي بصَحْنِكِ فاصْبَحِيْنـَا... ولا تُبْـقِي خُمُـورَ الأنْـدرِيْنَـا
6- عنترة بن شداد العبسي ومطلع معلقته: هَلْ غَادَرَ الشُّعَرَاءُ من مُتـَردَّمِ... أَمْ هَلْ عرَفْتَ الدَّارَ بَعْدَ تَوَهُّم
7- الحارث بن حلزة اليشكري ومطلع معلقته: آذَنـَتْـنَا بِبَيـْنِـهَا أسْمـاءُ...رُبَّ ثـاوٍ يُمَـلُّ مِنْـهُ الثَّـوَاءُ
8- الأعشى: ميمون بن قيس ومطلع معلقته: ودِّعْ هُرَيْرَةَ إن الرَّكْبَ مُرْتَحِلُ... وهَلْ تُطِيقُ وَدَاعـاً أَيُّهَا الرَّجُـلُ
وقد جعل أبو زيد القرشي معلقة الأعشى القصيدة التي مطلعها:
ما بكاءُ الكَبِـيرِ في الأطْـلالِ...وسُؤاَلي ومَـا تَرُدُّ سُـؤالِـي
9- النابغة الذبياني ومطلع معلقته: يا دَارَ مَيَّةَ بالعَلْيَـا، فالسَّنَـدِ... أَقوَتْ وَطالَ عَلَيْها سالِفُ الأبَدِ
ويرى أبو زيد القرشي أن معلقة النابغة هي القصيدة التي مطلعها: عوُجُوا فَحَيُّوا لِنُعْمٍ دِمْنَةَ الدَّار... ماذَا تُحَيُّونَ من نُؤْي وأَحْجَارِ
10- عبيد بن الأبرص ومطلع معلقته: أقفَرَ من أهْلِـهِ مـَلْحـُوبُ... فـالقُـطَّبِيَّـاتُ فالذَّنُـوبُ.
