هذا الكتاب هو هدية العبد لله للجيل الجديد في العام الجديد "المضحكون" الذي بين يديك الآن عمرة أكثر من ربع قرن بالتمام والكمال. صدرت طبعته الأولى في عام 1967، وتصدر طبعته الثانية في عام 1995 ، ونصحنى البعض بتغيير بعض فصوله وإضافة فصول جديدة عليه ولكنى رفضت النصحية بشدة وكنت أهدف من وراء ذلك إلى إطلاع القارئ على عدة أحكام سبق للعبد لله اصدارها على بعض الفنانين في زمن سابق أغلب هذه الأحكام أثبتت الأيام صحتها، وبعض الأحكام ثبت بطلانها ، ولكن نسبة مقبوله ومسموح بها خصوصا في قضية يعتمد الحكم فيها على الحس والذوق وليس على عمليات حسابية أو اختبارات معملية. وهذا الكتاب في رأى العبد لله سيكون شاهد اثبات على ان النقد عملية ذاتية تخضع لتجربة الناقد وثقافته وعمق الصلة بين الناقد والموضوع الذى يتعرض له ، ويثبت أيضا خرافة ما يسمى بالنقد الموضوعى والنقد الهدام . هنام فقط نقد أو لا نقد ، النقد المدرسى الذي يشبه موضوعات الإنشاء أو النقد الحقيقي الذي يصدر من ذات الناقد ومن احساسه. إنه كتاب صغير ولكنه يثير قضية كبيرة ، وأرجو أن يكون "المضحكون" شاهد أعلى صدق موقفي من القضية التى أردت طرحها من خلال هذا الكتاب!
