الحكمة الشعبية حولت النص إلى: على نفسها جنت براقش، وبذلك أصبح المثل أكثر عمقاً وسعة، فبراقش باتت أى رجل أو امرأة، فرد أو جماعة، جنس أو أمة ساهمت بغبائها أو بحمقها أو بجهلها فى إثارة كراهية الآخرين أو فى دفعهم للاعتداء عليها.
