اللاسلطوية نظرية سياسية تشكك في مبررات السلطان power و السلطة authority . و بالأخص السلطان السياسي. تُبرَّر اللاسلطوية بمطالبات اخلاقية حول اهمية الحرية الفردية. ويقدّم الأناركيون، أيضًأ، نظرية ايجابية حول الرقيّ البشري ترتكز على مثال للبناء التوافقي غير القسري. ألهمت اللاسلطوية جهودًا عملية في تأسيس تشاركيات communities يوتوبية، و أجندات ثورية و راديكالية، كما مختلف أشكال العمل المباشر. يصف هذا المدخل الأوليّ "اللاسلطوية الفلسفية": و يركّز على اللاسلطوية كفكرة نظرية وليس كشكل من النشاطية السياسية. بينما تضع اللاسلطوية الفلسفية نظرية ريبية حول الشرعية السياسية، فإنّها هي ايضًا مفهومٌ تم استخدامه في نظرية فلسفية و ادبية لوصف نوعٍ من الضد-أسسية antifoundationalism. يمكن لللاسلطوية الفلسفية أن تعني إمّا نظرية في الحياة السياسية تشكك في محاولات تبرير سلطة الدولة أو نظرية فلسفية تشكك في محاولة تأكيد الأسس الصارمة للمعرفة.
