هكذا كان علماء أمتنا وأبطال حضارتنا، قادة الشعب وزعماء التحرر، ورواد الإصلاح والنهوض، كانوا كذلك في الوقت الذي كان رجال الدين في أوروبا، كما يصفهم أحد المفكرين: يعادون الشعوب، ويقفون مع السلطة في مواجهة الحرية والعدالة والفكر والتقدم.
