قاص وروائي مصري من مواليد الأقصر٬ مصر٬عام 1967. يعمل محررا لمجلة الثقافة الجديدة. فاز بالجائزة الأولى في مسابقة صحافية (أخبار الأدب) للقصة القصيرة٬ على مستوى الوطن العربي٬ عن قصة "عجلات عربة الكارو الأربعة". صدر له ثلاث مجموعات قصصية وروايتان: "الصنم" (1999) و"منافي الرب" (2013) وقد ترشحت منافى الرب لجائزة البوكر و ايضا صدرت له رواية "إنحراف حاد"

وعندما بدأنا نكبر بدأت أمهاتنا في الرحيل إلى أسفل شواهد القبور..كان آباؤنا يحملون المحفّات المحملةِ بجثثهنَّ وكنّا نسعى بينهم وعيوننا تنهمر منها الدموع...وكان "مرز" يسعى بيننا بعينين جامدتين، وعندما تبتلع القبور أمهاتنا..وعندما يبني آباؤنا عليها الشواهد كنا نعود إلى بيوتنا... لكنَّ "مرز" لم يكن يرجع، كان يبقى طوال الليل جالسًا بين قبور أمهاتنا "..!! إذا لم تكن مستعدًّا لرواية من العيار الثقيل فلا تستمع الآن..إنّها حكاية "مرز" أبله القرية وزوجته "جوهرة" الفاتنة التي أزعج الملائكة صراخها المتواصل.. هي حكاية القرية الجاحدة التي تُنكر النّور ويغزوها الشرّ فتبدأ بصناعة الأصنام لا لتعبدها بل لحاجةٍ في نفس أبناءها الذين يفقدون أمهاتهم كلّما غربت الشمس. لكن هل هذه هي حكايتنا جميعًا نحن من صنعنا الأصنام ثمَّ فجأةً قررنا الثورة عليها؟! لا ..هي فقط حكاية "مرز" الأبله...الصّنم
