من بين قصص المجموع حكاية "شعر لامع مصفف بعناية"، والذي يحكي فيها المؤلف قصة رجل يمد خطواته بحذاء أسود في شارع متوسط الاتساخ، شعره يقل لمعانًا، مصفف بعناية وذقنه حليقة يرتدي حلة، متناسقة اللون مع قميصه ورابطة عنقه يحمل حقيبة ذات مظهر أنيق، يصدر وجهه شعورًا ما بالاستعجال المقطب قليلًا، يعرج بخفة إلى المقهى في منتصف الشارع، ويمد يده داخل حقيبته ليخرج معطرًا للإبط، ليقول شيئًا ما لا أسمعه لا يصير ليسمع بقية الإجابة الرجل أمامه يعيد المعطر بذات الخفة، بينما يغزو وجهه المقتطب اشمئزاز طفيف.
كما يحكي الكتاب قصة "الجسر" عند نهاية ذلك الجسر، ربما سيقف ربما سيمشي بلا هوادة بعناد تاركًا رائحة جسده لتغادر ببطء حتى تطير فيصر لدنا، عنوان ربما يجلس في تنوء صنعه جذع لشجرة ليلوك قليلًا من المازوخية المخلوطة بنكهة ليمون عدوانية ليسترجع الطرق المتشابكة التي قادته لذلك الجسر النائي ما بين حنينه ونصله، إلى أن يتضمن المؤلف مجموعة حكايات قصيرة من بينها عربات النار، ملح الأرض، فيلم قصير، صدى بعيد، كلب البحر، الصوتي قداحة لا تشتعل.
