في كتابه "الشر والجريمة" يحرص الدكتور أحمد عياش على كشف العلاقة بين علم النفس والجريمة وذلك بالنظر إلى النتوءات الأولى الخفية والمستترة في الذات الإنسانية والمحركة لسرورة الشر باتجاهات متعددة. فيشرح عوامل الشر الإنسانية وسلوكاته وأفكاره، فمنها عوامل ذاتية أو تكوينية أو بيولوجية وراثية أو مرضية أو عوامل خارجية (اجتماعية، بيئية، اقتصادية، عاطفية...) وغيرها، ثم يطرق أبواب الرواية العلمية ويتمعن في تجربتها علَه يستطيع أن يفهم الشر، ويعرض لنظرته إلى الجريمة في العنف غير الشرعي، شارحاً آلية القتل، ويتتبع ذلك بدراسة لشخصية المحكومين بجرائم قتل من خلال زياراته لسجن رومية في لبنان، ليطرح على القارئ عناوين مهمة لأبحاث في الجريمة يضمنها رؤيته الشخصية لجريمة القتل. ويختتم الكتاب بطرحٍ لافتٍ ومهمٍ لمواجهة الشر عبر القضاء على أخطر ما يكون فيه، أي جريمة القتل. إنها دعوة أخيرة –يقول المؤلف- بأن يكون في هيئة المحكمة من أجل العدالة كما احتج المحكومون بالإعدام والمؤبد وكما طالب الناس العاديون إلى جانب القاضي والمستشارين بطبيب نفسي وعالم إجتماع ليدليا برأيهما كعضوين فاعلين في هيئة المحكمة وليس كشاهدين خبيرين بالإمكان توقيفهما إن ناقشا وأعطا رأياً مخالفاً للقاضي أو إذا اعتبر المدَعي العام كلامهما إستفزازياً".
