حدثت هذه القصة حوالي عام 1921 في حي الحسينية ومازال مسرح حوادثها قائماً كما هو، وقد تكون كف السنين بدلت وجهه بالفناء والهدم، والبناء والتنظيم... إلا أن الكثير من علاماته المميزة مازالت قائمة على حالها لم يخن عليها الدهر، ولم يبدلها الزمن. وأشهر هذه العلامات واشدها ارتباطاً بهذه القصة صنبور المياه الحكومي، القائم في إحدى زوايا درب السماعي، أمام كشك صغير تربع فيه "سيد الدنك" المانح المانع، الآمر بالناهي في مياه الحي الحاكم بأمره في صف طويل عريض من النسوة ذوات الصفائح، والرجال ذوى القرب، من هذا الصنبور، تبدأ قصة السقا مات، ومن أحد رواده تتحدث لتتخذ منهما منفذاً لقراءة ماضٍ بعيد زالت ملامحه ولم يبق منه سوى نتق صغيرة وذكريات متداولة بين الناس، تحاول ألسنتهم رسمها وإعادتها من جديد من عيون جيل اليوم.
