الراحة عبارة عن توازن بين مختلف القوى لدى الكائن الحي، وكل اضطراب يتلف هذا التوازن يعرض الكائن الحي إلى مختلف أنواع التعب. ولو تأملنا هذه الحقيقة لوجدناها تنطبق على كل الوظائف الجسمية والنفسية، وما عليك إلا أن تلاحظ شخصا يستمر على طعام واحد من صنف معين، فإن هذا الاستمرار يحدث عنده اتجاهاً معيناً في الهضم، وكثيرا ما يؤدي ذلك إلى عدم ارتياح في الحالة العامة.
