"الحرب الثامنة" كتاب يوثق للملحمة البطولية التي سطرتها المقاومة الإسلامية والشعب اللبناني، ويوثق أيضاً مجمل أوجه الجريمة الصهيونية ضد لبنان، المسماة اصطلاحاً "بحرب عناقيد الغضب". ويشكل كتاب "الحرب الثامنة"، وثيقة تؤرخ لستة عشر يوم صمود ومواجهة بالسلاح المؤمن وباللحم الحيّ الذين هزما معادلة الحديد والنار؛ وبالكاتيوشا الذي صار رمزاً لسلاح التصميم، كما يقول زئيف شيف.
ويعرض ويوثق كتاب "الحرب الثامنة" لمختلف جوانب حدث عدوان "عناقيد الغضب" العسكرية والسياسية والدبلوماسية. ويرصد عرضاً وتوثيقاً، الخلفيات والمسارات الدولية والإقليمية التي قادت إلى حدوث هذا العدوان وكيفية تفاعلها مع تطوراته، وكذا الحال، بالنسبة لوقائعه اليومية التي اشتملت على: أولاً: الممارسات التي ارتكبتها إسرائيل طوال الـ16 يوماً والنتائج الاجتماعية والسياسية والاقتصادية التي تترتب عن هذه الممارسات. ثانياً: حضور المقاومة الإسلامية كأداء على غير صعيد؛ وأيضاً مناخات الوحدة الوطنية التي عمّت لبنان وراء شعار التصدي والمقاومة.
ومجمل هذه المعلومات التي تتجاوز العشرين ألف معلومة، انتظمت بين دفتي فصول الكتاب الثمانية التي تتالت وفق تصنيف توثيقي منهجي. ويختم الكتاب بفصل تاسع مخصص للملاحق، تم انتقاء مادته بحيث تغطي، أساساً، ما يكمن اعتباره وثائق الحرب سواء الرسمية منها أو المعنوية أو القانونية، وتغطي، بدرجة ثانية، مجمل المادة الخاصة بهذا الحديث، التي ضاقت بها، لأسباب منهجية، فصول الكتاب الثمانية الآنفة.
