ولأهمية التوبة؛ فقد كتب فيها كثيرٌ من علماء الإسلام قديماً وحديثاً. وقد وقع لي من ذلك كتابان: الأول كتاب "التوبة" لابن أبي الدنيا رحمه الله، جمع فيه كل ما وصله في التوبة من أحاديث نبوية شريفة وأقوال الصحابة والتابعين وبعض قصص التائبين.
والآخر كتاب "التوابين" لابن قدامة المقدسي رحمه الله، استعرض فيه أخبار التائبين، وقصص المنيبين، ممن كانوا في مختلف العصور القديمة والحديثة، من عهد آدم إلى أوائل القرن السابع الهجري، وذكر بعضَ أخبار التوابين الذين أعلنوا التوبة عما اقترفوه؛ من أجل التشويق إلى أخبارهم والترغيب في أحوالهم والاقتداء بفعلهم، فبدأ فيه بذكر توبة الملائكة ثم الأنبياء، ثم ملوك الأمم الخالية، ثم الأمم، ثم الآحاد منهم، ثم أصحاب نبينا صلى الله عليه وسلم، ثم ملوك الأمة، ثم بقية أفراد الأمة.
وقد ألهمني الله – تعالى - أن أعيد نشر الكتابين في كتاب واحد، بعنوان (التوبة وقصص التائبين) بهدف وضع نسخة حديثة من الكتابين بين يدي القارئ المعاصر، ترغيباً له في التوبة وسلوك سبيل التائبين الذين هم أحباب الله؛ (إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ التَّوَّابِينَ وَيُحِبُّ الْمُتَطَهِّرِينَ).
