رواية الأشباح أو الجان للكاتب الروسي أندريه بلاتونوف وتدورالرواية حول نزار شاغاتايف موفد إلى الصحراء لإنقاذ قومه من الهلاك. رواية الأشباح هي استجابة حية من الكاتب على أحداث الواقع السوفيتي فى العشرينات والثلاثينات، وهي تجسيد مسيرة شعوب آسيا الوسطى المتخلفة آنذاك نحو الاشتراكية واتخذت عند بلاتونوف صيغة بحث عن السعادة يقوم به شعب خرافي مكون من أناس يتامى حُرموا إرادة الحياة وأنهكتهم العبودية والظلام.وشبه أندريه بلاتونوف فى رواية الأشباح الوضع الذي يعيشه هذا الشعب بالوقوف على حافة الهاوية حيث تكفي بلَوى أخري جديدة فى عداد المصائب الكثيرة لتودي به وكل ما يملكه هذا الشعب المغلوب على أمره هو القلب وحده عندما ينبض فى الصدر. تبدأ رواية الأشباح كرواية سيكولوجية وبالتدريج تتصاعد فيها عناصر الأسطورة، فكان من نتيجة هذا الأمتزاج بين الأسس الاجتماعية، أن ظهر إلى الوجود واحد من أفضل أعمال بلاتونوف عن مسيرة شعب إلى الحياة والنور.وتُعــــرف روايات بلاتونوف بأجوائها الكابوسية- التشاؤمية، وقد سُمّي في ما بعد «كافكا روسيا». كتب مقدمة الرواية الباحث عبدالله حبه بعنوان «في أدب بلاتونوف»، وقال فيها: «كان بلاتونوف يؤمن بمقولة دوستويفسكي بأنّ خلاص العالم لا يتمّ بالعنف بل بالتضحية. وقد عانى من ذلك غيره من المبدعين الروس وقدموا التضحيات، ومنها التضحية بالنفس، مثل ماياكوفسكي وتسـفـيتايفا وأخماتوفا وشـولوتوف وتولوستوي وبولغـاكوف، بل وحتى مكسيم غوركي القريب من الكرملين... ظهر بلاتونوف في الساحة الأدبية الروسية بعد ثورة أكتوبر الاشتراكية عام 1917 فجأة كالإعصار الذي ينبثق بين البرودة والحرارة والنور والظلام والجفاف والرطوبة، وكان ذلك بمثابة تجسيد لتحديات الثورة والطرق التي سلكها الثوار البلاشفة الذين ينتمي أكثرهم إلى الكادحين المعدمين».
