يشتبك الكاتب في هذه المجموعة مع عدد من القضايا والموضوعات الذاتية والفكرية والثقافية والسلوكية والعاطفية والاجتماعية والفلسفية والسياسية النابعة من نبض الحياة اليومية وقلقها وتوترها، عبر معمار قصصي قصير جدًا.
ولعلّ الثيمة المهيمنة على هذه المجموعة هي الوغد؛ بدلالاتها المتعددة مثل الحمق والدناءة والرذالة والضعف والخنوع والخسة والنذالة وعدم الهمة والطموح، فالوغد هو الساقط المقصّر في كل شيء.
ويشتغل الكاتب في هذه المجموعة على أشكال متعددة للقصة القصيرة جدًا، ما بين المشهدية واللوحة والحكاية والخاطرة والحكمة والمثل والخبر والطرفة والوصية والتوقيع والشذرة والومضة بلغة مكثفة ساخرة، سداها المفارقة ولحمتها الحكائية، تظهر جليّة في بعض النصوص وتتوارى في بعضها الآخر. ويجسد الكاتب عبر قصص المجموعة رؤيته الفنية لمفهوم القصة القصيرة جدًا وفلسفتها.
