Book Description
في ساعةٍ مبكرة من صباح أحد الأيام، ذهب السير «آرثر فودري»، الإقطاعي الكبير، إلى الضَّيعة التي يمتلكها واختفى هناك تمامًا ولم يَعُد إلى منزله. استدعت الآنسة «سايبل راي» — التي كانت تعيش في كَنف الإقطاعي الكبير — «الأبَ براون» ليُحقِّق في أمر اختفاء السير «فودري». أخبره السكرتير بأنه يشك في وجود علاقةِ ابتزازٍ بين السير «فودري» وخطيبِ الفتاة التي يرعاها، السيدِ «جون دالمون»؛ بسبب جريمة قديمة ارتكبها الأول. وبينما كان «الأب براون» يفحص المكان المحيط بمنزل السير «فودري»، عثر على جثته مذبوحًا بجوار ضفة النهر. فمَن يا تُرى قتَله؟ وهل سيتمكن «الأب براون» من كشف غموض الحادث ومعرفة دوافع القاتل؟ هذا ما سنتعرَّف عليه من خلال قراءة هذه القصة المثيرة.
