في هذا الكتاب الهام يحدثنا المؤلف مصطفى حلمى عن مدرسة ابن تيمية وموقفها من التصوف، فيبدأ المؤلف بالحديث عن المدرسة السلفية ويعرض لنا بشكل مجمل رأي ابن تيمية في التصور وكيف يرى تطوراته على مر التاريخ، وفي الفصل الثاني من الكتاب يعرض لنا الزهاد الأوائل ويضم إليهم الصحابة مثل أبي بكر وعمر وعثمان وعلي أبي الدرداء وأبي ذر وسلمان الفارسي، ويعرض لنا مدارس الأمصار، فيبدأ بالمدينة ثم مدرسة مكة، ثم مدرسة الكوفة ثم البصرة، والشام، وبغداد وغيرها من البلاد، وفي كل بلد ظهر أحد أسلافنا ففي بغداد على سبيل المثال ظهر أحمد بن حنبل، ثم ينتقل المؤلف في الفصل الثالث ليعرض لنا موقف ابن تيمية من النظريات الصوفية، مثل الحلول والنظرية الجبرية والولي أفضل من النبي وغير ذلك من المسائل، وفي الفصل الرابع حدثنا عن الاتجاهات الروحية لابن تيمية.
