بِشَكل هذا البحث محاولة للكشف عما حاق بمناهجنا التعليمية، وبدراساتنا الأدبية من خلل في تعاملها مع أدب الدعاء، حيث وجدنا أن هذه المناهج والدراسات قد سدلت دون أدب الدعاء ثوبا، وطوت عنه كشحا، حتى غدا لديها فنا منفيا من حاضرة الأدب، وملحقا بساحة العدم، على الرغم مما يمتاز به من حضور متألق يؤهله لكي يأتي في طليعة الفنون الأدبية، ويتسنم علياءها.
ولما كان هذا التغييب لأدب الدعاء يسبب نقصًا خطيرًا في مادة الأدب العربي، وينعكس جهلًا بينا على طلابه ومريديه، فقد غدا من الضروري السعي إلى نفض غبار النسيان عن هذا الأدب، وذلك بغية أن نعيد إلى حاضرة الأدب العربي نصوصًا قيمة، قد تسهم في إغناء مادته، وفي إعلاء شأنه بين الآداب العالمية، كما يمكنها أن تسهم أيضًا في قلب عدد من المفاهيم والأحكام التي تسالم عليها الكثيرون من أهل البحث ودارسي الأدب.
