الدكتور/ ماهر محمد عبد العزيز من مواليد محافظة الدقهلية بجمهورية مصر العربية و حاصل على درجة الدكتوراه في الكيمياء من قسم الكيمياء بكلية العلوم جامعة عين شمس، و قبلها حصل على درجة البكالوريوس في الكيمياء من نفس الجامعة بتقدير جيد جدا مع مرتبة الشرف ثم حصل على درجة الماجستير في الكيمياء من جامعة بنها. عمل معيدا ثم مدرسا مساعدا ثم مدرسا للكيمياء الإشعاعية و النووية بهيئة الطاقة الذرية المصرية -مركز المعامل الحارة و في عام 2003 و فور حصوله على الدكتوراه انتقل للعمل بالجامعات الليبية كمحاضر ثم ترقي إلى درجة أستاذ مساعد ثم إلى أستاذ مشارك بجامعة طرابلس الليبية. نشر أكثر من 33 بحثا علميا بعدة مجلات دولية و قد ألف 3 كتب أثنان باللغة العربية و الثالث باللغة الإنجليزية. بالإضافة إلى نشر 5 فصول Book Chapter من كتب دولة مختلفة، كما أشرف على العديد من رسائل الماجستير.

الكتاب عبارة عن مجموعة من الأبحاث العلمية الحديثة في مجال علم الكيمياء وهو عبارة عن 8 فصول، والفصل الثامن من تأليف الدكتور/ ماهر محمد عبد العزيز حول كيمياء وفصل وتقدير بعض المواد الطبيعية الكيميائية الفعالة المفصولة من النباتات. والكتاب منشور عام 2023.
