يقول حفيد عبد الرحمن الكواكبي حول كتاب جده "أم القرى" بأن هذه الطبعة لكتاب "أم القرى" هي جديدة، وقد قوبلت على الطبعات المختلفة التي صدرت له، مما يجعلها لا تختلف عن الطبعة الأولى التي أصدرها المؤلف لأول مرة. مشيراً إلى حقيقة تاريخية تلقي ضوءاً على موضوع هذا الكتاب، وهي إن عبد الرحمن الكواكبي ألّف "أم القرى" و""بائع استبداد" قبل هجرته إلى مصر، وكان عمه الدكتور أسعد الكواكبي يتولى تبيض أم القرى له وهو في حلب، كما أخبره عالم حلب الثقة الشيخ راغب الطباخ أن المؤلف أطلعه عليه قبل سفره إلى مصر.
هذا ولما كان الناشر "الفراتي" لم يغادر حلب خلال مقامه فيها إلا إلى استنبول، ولم يقم بجولته إلى العالم الإسلامي إلا بعد رحيله إلى مصر، فإن المؤتمر الذي عقده في مكة، والذي يدور عليه موضوع الكتاب، إنما هو مؤتمر تخيله المؤلف ليعرف فيه آراؤه الإصلاحية في قالب جذاب يستهوي النفوس.
