يرجع المؤلف الطرز المعمارية إلى الأصول القديمة التي بُنيت عليها هذه الطُرز في حضارة الفراعنة ، إذ أن اليونان أنفسهم كانوا يفخرون بأن حضارتهم استمدت أصولها من المدنية المصرية التي وصفوها بأنها أقدم المدنيات وأعرقها، لذلك وجب أن نبحث قليلًا في أصول تلك الطرز المصرية القديمة التي كانت بداية للقواعد المعمارية، والتي استمد منها اليونان والرومان الخطوط الأُولى لعمارتهم. وكان المصري منطقيًا في استعمال الأعمدة إذ أنها كانت تعمل أولًا لحمل الأسقف في الأكواخ التي تبني من المواد النباتية وهو يُمثل شكل كوخ أو مسكن وسطه عامود ،كما نرى شكل العامود في صالة الأعمدة .
