يقع هذا الكتاب في 453 صفحة وعشرة فصول. يختص الفصل الاول في اعطاء مدخل عام للرقابة الادارية والرقابة على التكاليف وتقييم الاداء في الشركات ودور محاسبة التكاليف في تحقيق ذلك، اما الفصل الثاني فيتناول اساسيات محاسبة التكاليف المعيارية، ويتطرق الفصل الثالث الى احتساب وتحليل انحرافات تكاليف المواد المباشرة والاجور المباشرة، ويركز الفصل الرابع على اعداد الموازنات المرنة واستخدامها في تحديد انحرافات التكاليف الصناعية الاضافية، اما الفصل الخامس فانه يتطرق الى الاجراءات المحاسبية في نظام التكاليف المعيارية ويوضح تسجيل قيود اليومية والترحيل الى حسابات التكاليف، كما يتناول الفصل السادس تحديد وتحليل انحرافات المبيعات، اما الفصل السابع فان يعالج نظام التكاليف على اساس الانشطة (ABC)، في حين ان الفصل الثامن يقدم عرضا موسعا لنظام تحديد كلفة المنتج في ظل نظام الانتاج في الوقت المحدد (JIT)، وان الفصل التاسع يستعرض تحديد تكاليف الجودة في الشركات، واخيرا يتناول الفصل العاشر تخصيص التكاليف المشتركة على المنتجات المشتركة والمنتجات الثانوية.
يهدف الكتاب الى دراسة تقنيات محاسبة التكاليف لاغراض التخطيط والرقابة باسلوب سهل الفهم ومبسط ومعزز بالمخططات والرسوم التوضيحية وبالالوان متضمنا في نهاية كل فصل حل تمرين شامل مع ملخص للفصل وما لا يقل عن 100 سؤال وتمرين منصفة على خمس مجموعات(اسئلة نظرية، اكمل الفراغات، صح ام خطأ، اختر الاحابة الصحيحة، وتمارين)
