هذا الكتاب يُناقش المنظور الإلحادي في مسيرته الحياتية والفكريّة، وكيفية تعامله مع القضايا؛ فينتقد البنية الفكرية عند الماديين من نواحي:
1. فكرة العدمية وإنكار الخالق.
2. الرؤية الخاصة بالدين.
3. دوافع إبعاد الدين عن الواقع.
4. الانبهار بالنظم الغربية (العلمانية) المؤسَّسة على النظرات المتحررة من طغيان رجال الدين الكنسي، باعتبارها البديل المقترح من قبل هذا الفكر لصياغة الحياة على منواله، موضحًا أن الانحياز إلى أنظمة معيّنة بتجرد تام من الدين؛ أمر يكاد يكون من المستحيلات، وإن كان ظاهر هذه النظم التحرر من توجيه الدين إلا أن الدين موجِّه لها كما هو الوضع مع النظام العلماني الغربي.
