جرت سُنة الله تعالى كلما أغرق الناس في الإقبال على الدنيا والإعراض عن الآخرة أنْ يقيِّض لهم رجالًا ربّانيين يَردُّونهم إلى جادّة الحق، ويُحيُون فيهم معالم الديانة، ويُقيمون لهم صرحَ الروح من جديد. ويُعَدُّ المرشِد الكبير، العالِمُ العامل، المدقق في العلوم، والمتحقِّق بسَنِيّ الأحوال، الشيخ ضياء الدين خالد بن أحمد بن حسين النقشبندي الشهرزوري البغدادي ثم الدمشقي، الشهير بمولانا خالد؛ من أهم الشخصيات التي تركت أثرًا كبيرًا في حياة الناس في عصره وبعده (القرن الثالث عشر الهجري، وُلد بقَرَداغ بالسليمانية سنةَ 1193هـ وتوفّي بدمشق الشام سنة 1242هـ).
يتناول هذا الكتاب سيرة الشيخ خالد النقشبندي، وأثره في أهل عصره، وأحوال ذلك العصر المختلفة. كما يبيّن مكانته في العلوم العقلية والنقلية، وتجديده لطريق السلوك إلى الله تعالى. ويتناول بعد ذلك آراء الشيخ خالد في علم التوحيد، ومنهجه في دراسة مسائله، وتحريراته فيه، بما يكشف النقاب عن مكانته في ذلك العلم الشريف
