اهتم علماء المسلمين في القديم والحديث بهذا الكتاب غاية الاهتمام ، وأولوه من العناية أشدها ،ينهلون من معينه ويتزودون من علومه ،ويستخرجون من بحره اللآلئ.
ومن هؤلاء أبو بكر محمد بن القاسم الأنباري (ت327هـ )، فقد اكتسب كتابه الأضداد قيمة كبيرة بين مؤلفات علوم اللغة ، إذ حاول كشف اللثام عن ظاهرة الأضداد في اللغة العربية ، وتأكيدها والدفاع عنها ،ورد شبه الطاعنين فيها ، فهو يعد أوفى كتاب في هذا الباب.
وقد استشهد بشواهد كثيرة من القرآن الكريم ، واستعان في شرحه لألفاظ هذه الشواهد بالرجوع إلى المفسرين والاستئناس بأقوالهم ، إلا أن هذا لا يضع كتاب الأضداد ضمن مصنفات التفسير اللغوي المباشر؛ لأن التفسير لم يكن القصد الأول للمؤلف ،وإنما قصد تأصيل ظاهــــرة الأضداد والدفاع عنها ،وكانت الأقوال التفسيرية ترد في ثنايا مباحثه اللغوية .
وقد تناول هذا البحث السمات العامة لمنهج ابن الأنباري في ذكره لمسائل التفسير في كتابه الأضداد، حسب ما يسر الله تعالى لي من العون والتوفيق .
