يُنشر لأول مرة هذا الكتاب للمؤرّخ الشيخ محمد بن حمدٍ العسافي آل بو عُلَيّان التميمي (ت1394هـ). تضمن الكتاب اثنتين وعشرين ترجمةً لسِير علماء أجلاء وسادة فضلاء، وممن ترجم لهم: الشيخ محمد بن فيروز (ت1216هـ)، والشيخ فراج السابق (كان حيًّا في 1247هـ)، وضمّنها منظومة نادرة له تفرد بها الكتاب عن غيره، ومنهم: الشيخ إبراهيم بن ضويان (ت1353هـ)، وغير ذلك من التراجم النادرة. وذُيّل الكتاب في نهايته برسالة مهمة للمؤلف بعنوان «القول المجمل في الخلّ الأفضل»، ترجم فيها المؤلف لبلديِّه الشاعر محمد بن غنيم (ت1335هـ)، الذي تبدّدت أخباره، فكان هذا الجزء المليح بعثًا لذكر أخباره. وقد جاءت هذه الطبعة بعناية دار النفائس والمخطوطات بمدينة بُريدة، وتعليق الشيخ الفاضل عليّ بن صالح الصَّمعاني، وخُتمت بجملة من الفهارس الفنية الكاشفة لمعلومات الكتاب
