أحمد صلاح سابق، مهندس معماري ومصمِّم جرافيك، وروائي ورسَّام. تخرَّج في كلية الهندسة، جامعة القاهرة، عام 2003، وعمل مهندسًا ومصمِّمًا في عددٍ من ستوديوهات التصميم المصرية والعالمية بالقاهرة وبودابست ولندن. نُشِرَت له رواية النمروذ في عام 2013، ورواية وادي الرماد في عام 2016.

بمرور الأشهر والسنوات، أصيب الشاب بفتور تجاه المؤثرات المحيطة، واستعلاء تام على الإحساس بمعاناة الآخرين. لم يعد ثَمَّة شيء يستحثه أو يدهشه أو يخيفه. انعزل عن العالم المحيط في كبسولة محكمة، لم يعد يسمع فيها إلا صوت أنفاسه قادمة من بعيد، عبر مواسير طويلة، بتردد عميق وبطئ. مضى في حياته ينقرها نقر الغراب، ويتلفت فيها التفافة الثعلب إذ يعلم أنه مُطارد، وخاض حالةً ممتدةً من المناورات الخطيرة والتركيز الشديد وضبط العواطف، متحريًا الحذر في كل أحواله، مراقبًا الناس في سره وعلانيته، محاسبًا نفسه علي السقطة واللقطة. أعوام مرَّت عليه في حصر وضغط، فصار يُحدِّث نفسه كل ليلة: "كل يوم قضيته طليقًا، هو يوم غلبتهم فيه. كل وجبة طيبة أكلتها، هي وجبة لم ينتزعها مني أحد. كل نفس استخلصته من الهواء، هو نصر سلبته من الدنيا."
