كشف لطفى خلال مداخلة هاتفية مع الاعلامي محسن عيد في برنامج انا المصري على قناة نور الحكمة ، عن أنه حتى شهر أكتوبر 2010 كان هناك نحو 78 أسير مصري في السجون الاسرائيلية وتم الإفراج عن 25 منهم نظير الجاسوس الأمريكي إيلان، واصفا هذا التبادل بالمجحف لحقوق المصريين خاصة وأن الهدف كان الإفراج عن كافة المعتقلين المصريين والعرب، مثلما حدث في صفقة جلعاد شاليط. وأعلن عن أنهم بدأوا إضرابا عن الطعام منذ الأمس لحين تحقيق خطوة إيجابية في هذا الإطار خاصة وأن غالبية المعتقلين لم يتم التحقيق معهم، وآخرون صدرت ضدهم أحكام مدتها سنة أو سنتين وقد أدوا المدة المقررة ولم يتم الافراج عنهم، لكنه اشار إلى أن هناك 6 مصريين اسرى منذ حرب 73، وهؤلاء كانوا فى لجان الدفاع المدني، كما كشف عن أن المتحدث باسم الأسرى المصريين فى إسرائيل قال إن هناك أسرى منذ أكثر من 30 سنة في دار العجزة في تل أبيب.
