محمد عثمان الخشت، هو مفكر عربي، أستاذ فلسفة الأديان والمذاهب الحديثة والمعاصرة بكلية الآداب - جامعة القاهرة.
موسوعي الثقافة، يجمع بين التعمق في التراث الإسلامي والفكر الغربي.
تتميز مؤلفاته بالجمع بين المنهج العقلي والخلفية الإيمانية.
له كتابات مرجعية في أصول الدين والمذاهب الحديثة والمعاصرة، وعلم السياسة خاصة عن المجتمع المدني ودوره، والدولة العالمية والدولة القومية.
له مؤلفات تدرس في العديد من الجامعات في علوم الدين المختلفة: أصول الدين، وعلم الحديث، والشريعة، ومقارنة الأديان، كما أن له مؤلفات عديدة عن الفرق الإسلامية، فضلا عن الكتابات الاجتماعية.
تتميز كتاباته بالوسطية والعقلانية، وتكشف هذه الكتابات عن تعمق كبير في العلوم الإنسانية والعلوم الشرعية، ويتميز أسلوبه بالوضوح والمنطقية.
وهو مستشار جامعة القاهرة الثقافي.
