قام مؤلف هذا الكتاب بدراسة استدلالات وادعاءات ذبيح الله محلاتي التي ذكرها في كتابه «رَدٌّ على المناقشات بشأن خطبة الغدير ووجوب خمس أرباح المكاسب ومسألة الشفاعة»، وتمحيصها، وتفنيدها والردّ عليها. وقد كان المحلاتي ألف كتابه الأخير للرد على مقالة بعنوان «رد خطبة الغدير» كان السيد أبو الفضل البرقعي قد كتبها ونشرها في مجلة «رنگین کمان» [قوس قزح]. ولما كان السيد محلاتي قد ألَّف كتابَه على شكل أسئلة افتراضية والإجابة عنها، اتخذ مؤلف هذه الرسالة نهجًا مشابهًا وبين إجاباته عن أسئلة السيد المحلاتي واعتراضاته. في بداية الرسالة، بيَّن المؤلف قصة الغدير وما وقع فيها وذكر دلائل تثبت أنه لا يمكن أن يكون قصد الرسول الأكرم صلى الله عليه وسلم عليه وسلم من تلك الواقعة هو النص على خلافة علي رضي الله عنه للنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم عليه وسلم في الحكم والرئاسة. وقسَّم المؤلف أدلته إلى أربعة أقسام هي: الأدلة العقلية والأدلة النقلية والأدلة الوجدانية والأدلة التاريخية. ثم قام المؤلف ببحث مفصل في سند حديث الغدير الطويل وعَنْوَنَه بـ (السند الفاضح لحديث الغدير) حيث محّص رجال السند أي رواة حديث الغدير بالاستناد إلى مصادر كتب الرجال الشيعية المهمة مُبيِّنًا حال أولئك الرواة ومدى ثقتهم وإمكانية الاعتماد على روايتهم ليصل بالنتيجة إلى أن أكثر أقسام حديث الغدير الطويل موضوعة مختلَقة، وبالتالي فالنتائج والمفاهيم المستنبطة منها باطلة.
