محاولة لتطبيق مفهوم المكنز كأداة استرجاع معلومات حديثة على كتب التراث الإسلامي من خلال دراسة خصائص اللغة الاصطلاحية الشرعية.ويسد الكتاب حاجة قائمة إلى موضوعة، فما زال المصطلح الأعجمي يسيطر على العلوم التي تدرس في جامعاتنا التي خرجت أجيالا لا تستطيع التغبير أو الكتابة بلغتها فزاد الظن عندهم بأن الإسلام عقيدة لا فكر وأن اللغة هي العاجزة وليست الإرادة.ولما كانت العلوم الشرعية هي أساس العقيدة وعماد اللغة، وهي جزء لا يتجزأ من جملة العلوم والمعارف فقد لزم أن تواكب التطور الحادث في شتى مجالات العلوم مع الحفاظ على الصبغة الإسلامية والمنهج الشرعي لها، وهو ما يتضمن القيام بعملية محورية مهمتها التأصيل والمعاصرة معا. ويتمثل محمور التأصيل في تنظير العلوم الحديثة بمفاهيم إسلامية. أما محور المعاصرة فيرتكز على مواكبة العلوم الشرعية لما يستجد من تطورت ثم تطبيق نتائج على العلوم الحديثة كأساس لعملية التنظير.ويتناول الكتاب تعريف الاصطلاح والمصطلح الشرعي، ثم يذكر تاريخ ظهور المكنز في التراث العربي والإسلامي، وكذلك مراحل تطوره حتى العصر الحديث. ثم يتعامل مع منهج تقنين وضبط المصطلحات في المكنز وفق خصائص اللغة الاصطلاحية الشرعية. كما يناقش العلاقات الواردة بين هذه المصطلحات في بنية المكنز. ومن ثم يستعرض طرق ترتيب المصطلحات متعرضا للمدارس المعجمية المختلفة؛ مستوفيا طرق عرض المصطلحات في المكانز الحديثة. وينتهي أخيراً إلى شرح خطوات بناء المكنز الشرعي وتطويره. واستكمالا للمنهج فقد زود الباحث الكاتب بدارسة نقدية للجهود العربية المعاصرة في اعدا المكانز الشرعية.
