تتحدد مشكلة هذه الدراسة في تقييم الدور الاتصالي للمؤسسات الصحية في التوعية حيال مرض كورونا، من خلال استخدام وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي كأداة توعوية في ظل وجود خطر وبائي متمثل في فيروس كورونا، حيث تهدف الدراسة إلى التعرف على مستوى استخدام وتوظيف المدن الطبية بمدينة الرياض ومستشفياتها الحكومية لشبكات التواصل الاجتماعي (يوتيوب – فيسبوك - تويتر) في استراتيجيات التوعية الصحية لمرض كورونا وتقييم درجة مشاركة المدن الطبية ومستشفياتها الحكومية بالرياض في برامج التوعية الصحية لمرض كورونا عبر شبكات التواصل الجماهيرية بالمملكة.وقد كشفت الدراسة أن ٧٣% من المدن الطبية بمدينة الرياض ومستشفياتها الحكومية لا تمتلك منصات على شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي (يوتيوب – فيسبوك – تويتر)، كما بينت الدراسة أن ٠ ٦% من المدن الطبية بمدينة الرياض لم تستخدم شبكات التواصل الاجتماعي في التوعية حيال مرض كورونا، ما يعني غياب استراتيجية صحية وطنية تسهم من خلالها كافة المدن الطبية ومستشفياتها الحكومية في الانخراط في الجهد الوطني الصحي، كما توضح الدراسة أيضا ضعف استخدام المدن الطبية ومستشفياتها الحكومية لاستخدام المنظومة الاتصالية الحديثة للتوعية والتواصل مع المجتمع المحلي، وتعزيز الثقافة الصحية والطب الوقائي، ما يعني أيضا التفريط بتوظيف الشبكات الاتصالية الفاعلة خلال الأمراض والأوبئة، مما يعزز من حجم الخسائر الوطنية.وأوصت الدراسة بأهمية تصميم استراتيجية توعوية صحية وطنية، تسهم فيها كافة مكونات المنظومة الصحية، من القطاعات الحكومية المختلفة وكذلك من قبل القطاع الصحي الخاص، وكذلك أهمية قيام المدن الطبية والمستشفيات الكبرى بتأسيس منظومة اتصالية حديثة، والقيام بدورها الوطني حيال التوعية الصحية واستخدام شبكات الإعلام الجديد في التوعية الصحية.
