فقد دارت هذه الدراسة حول منطقة من المناطق غيرالمطروقة فى القصة العربية القديمة، فلقد مر عليها السابقون مرورا عاجلا، فلم يحيطوها بدراستهم إحاطة تفى بما تحمل من أبعاد؛ هذه المنطقة هى منطقة التقاء الشعر بالقصة القديمة . فجاءت الدراسة لتكشف هذه الأبعاد التى تجاهلها السابقون، فقد حاول المؤلف من خلال النماذج القصصية المدعمة بالشعر – الكشف عن الأبعاد الفنية الناتجة عن هذا التداخل، والتأكيد على أن هناك قصداً فنياً من ورائه، جاء هذا القصد الفنى كامتداد طبيعى للالتقاء والذى تحقق – أيضاً – بصورة طبيعية .
