وقد تناول ابننا الباحث الجاد الدكتور صبري خالد عثمان موضوع القيم التربوية في شعر الأطفال من خلال دراسة تحليلية متعمقة مهد لها بدراسة نظرية تناولت المراحل التاريخية لأدب الأطفال الذى ظهر فى نهاية القرن التاسع عشر متأثراً بالأدب الغربى ومنبثقاً من جذور تاريخية عربية يظهر فيها الأدب مهتماً بالطفل وبارتباطه بالأسرة وتطرق المؤلف إلى الخلاف الدائر بين القائلين بأن أدب الأطفال اشتمل عليه الأدب العربى وله جذوره العربية والرأى الآخر الذى يرى خلاف ذلك حيث إنه يرى أن الأطفال العرب ظلوا يتامى الأدب حتى وقت قصير وقد مال المؤلف إلى الرأى القائل بأن أدب الأطفال له جذوره العربية ثم ناقش الفصل ظهور أدب الأطفال فى مصر والذى بدأ بتأثر الأدباء والشعراء بالأدب الغربى وفى مقدمتهم رفاعة الطهطاوى ومحمد عثمان جلال وأحمد شوقى وإبراهيم العرب والهراوى .
