صور الصناعة عند العرب الجاهليين تبدو كثيرة في الشعر الجاهلي، ويلاحظ دارس هذا الشعر بوضوح جلي أن العرب في جاهليتهم عرفوا ضروباً مختلفة من الصناعات؛ وأتقنوا فنوناً كثيرة منها وأن معرفتهم بها لم تتوقف عند تلك الصناعات التي تقتضيها ضرورة المعاش "كالحياكة والنجارة والحدادة وأمثالها" (١) . بل تجاوزوا ذلك إلى صنائع أخرى مما تدعو إليه "عوائد الترف وأحواله" (٢) كالدباغة والصياغة.
