الرواية هي الجزء الثاني من رواية “حب عتيق”، الفائزة بجائزة مسابقة “توفيق بكار” التونسية وتستكمل أحداث تلك الرواية التي ناقشت الواقع السياسي في العراق منذ العام 1900 الى العام 1958، وهذه الرواية في الجزء الثاني تناقش الواقع العراقي من العام 1958 الى العام 1963 من خلال تطورات الأحداث الاجتماعية والسياسية في مدينة سوق الشيوخ جنوبي محافظة ذي قار التي تعد مهبط النبي إبراهيم الخليل والمدينة التي علمت البشرية القراءة والكتابة وامتداد لمدينة أور التاريخية.. والرواية تسلط الضوء على الصراع الذي عاصرته المدينة إبان الأحداث التي شهدها العراق ما بعد العام 1985؛ حيث انعطفت الأحداث من الفرح بقيام الثورة والتخلص من الحكم الملكي الى صراع بين الأحزاب وخاصة الحزب الشيوعي وحزب البعث والتأثير الاجتماعي الذي كان بداية لقلق الفرد العراقي وتأثير هذه الأحزاب على عدم الاستقرار واستمراره بشكل متصاعد.
