لم تكن مسيرة الكتابة النسائية سهلة. في البدايات كانت الكتابة النسائية لا تجرؤ على كتابة الذات، أو الجهر بالخصوصية الأنثوية. إنها اللحظة الصفر في الكتابة عند المرأة العربية.
ومع بدايات استقلال البلاد العربية من الاستعمار، شرعتِ المرأة في التعبير عن ذاتها وعن خصوصياتها النوعية. إنها المرحلة الأقوى التي كتبت فيها المرأة عن ذاتها لا كخصوصية، بل ضمن سياق تاريخي ومجتمعي.
لقد مرّ السرد النسوي، كما مرّت المرأة وقضاياها ونضالاتها، بمراحل متعدّدة، متنامية ومطّردة في التصاعد والارتقاء نحو الإبداع والكتابة النسائية، حيث تبدع المرأة بِنِدِّيَّةٍ، بل وتفوّق دون مركّب نقصٍ أو خوفٍ من الاسم العلم، والنسب، وذكورة المجتمع، وسلطة الرجل سوى سلطة الإبداع والخلق الفني والجمالي.
ولم تَنْفِ كتابات المرأة بعضها بعضاً، بل ساهمت متجاورةً في إبراز الجوانب المختلفة للمرأة في نضالها من أجل إثبات الذات والدفاع عن الحق في المواطنة الكاملة غير المشروطة، والمساهمة الفعلية في تنمية المجتمع وتطويره، والمشاركة في تخليق الحياة العامّة، والتدبير وتسيير الشؤون العامة، والتخلّص من كلِّ أشكال ومظاهر التمييز الجنسي والجسدي.
هذا الكتاب يحكي مسيرة السرد النسائي العربي ومراحله وخصائصه وآفاق تطوره.
