هذا الكتاب للدكتور محمد القاسمي عمل علمي رصين يعاين على نحو دقيق سمة من أبرز السمات التي تميز اللغة الشعرية، وهي "التكرارات الصوتية" بمعناها الواسع، وبأشكالها المتعددة التي تنبثق من دوائر علم البلاغة، وبخاصة البديع، والنحو، والصرف، والعروض، والتي غدت موضوع بحث في اللسانيات، وعلم النص، والأسلوبية.
وقد ذهب الدكتور القاسمي إلى بحث أشكال التكرار جميعها تحت عنوان كبير دون الدخول في التقسيمات البلاغية الشديدة التفصيل، كما أنه عالج على نحو منهجي أشكال التكرار في أبعادها ووظائفها الموسيقية والمعنوية، ودورها في تكوين بنية نصية متماسكة لفظاً ومعنىً مستنداً في هذا كله إلى المرجعيات الخاصة بالنقد الحديث في بعديه النظري والتطبيقي.
اتخذ الدكتور القاسمي شعر أبي تمام نموذجاً لقراءة سمة التكرار في لغة الشعر، وهذا إختيار موفق مقصود يخدم أهداف البحث ويسعف على رؤية الحضور المكثف للتكرار المتقصد فنياً في شعر أبي تمام، رأس مدرسة البديع، ويمكن كذلك من الوقوف على الأبعاد الجمالية والفكرية، والتماسك النصي الذي يؤديه إستعمال البديع، بكل عناصره، عند هذا الشاعر الحكيم الفنان.
ويجدر أن نشير هنا إلى أن الدكتور القاسمي سبق وأن أصدر في عام 2005 كتاباً درس فيه الصورة الشعرية عند أبي تمام، وهذا مؤشر على مشروع علمي في قراءة التراث الشعري العربي في إطار تصور منهجي متسق وواضح.
