يتضمن هذا الكتاب ستة فصول، أولها: المقدس الشخصي عند العرب قبل الإسلام، وجاء الحديث فيه عن معنى المقدس لغة وإصطلاحاً، وأصناف المقدس الشخصي، وهي: الملوك، وسادات القبائل، والكهنة، ورجال الدين، والأبطال، والسدنة.
أما الفصل الثاني، فعنوانه عقائد الموت عند العرب قبل الإسلام وموقف القرآن الكريم والسنّة منها، بيّنت مصطلح الموت، وحتمية الموت وأنواعه، والحزن على الميت، وغسل الميت وتكفينه، وحمل الميت إلى القبر، وإعتقادات ارتبطت بموت سادات القبائل.
وكُرس الفصل الثالث، للحديث عن الإجارة عند العرب قبل الإسلام وعصر الرسالة الإسلامية.
وعُنيّ الفصل الرابع ببعض المعتقدات السائدة عند العرب قبل الإسلام، والتي تدخل في ضمن دائرة الميثولوجيا، تتمثل بتعليق التمائم وكتابة وقراءة الرقى.
واهتم الفصل الخامس، بعادات الحروب عند العرب قبل الإسلام، وقد بينّ الفصل مصطلح الحرب، ومفردة العادة، وتطرق إلى عاداتهم في التهيئ للقتال، وبدايات القتال، وإصطحابهم للنساء، وعاداتهم في القتال، وفي التعامل مع الأسرى، وفي طلب الصلح.
ووسم الفصل السادس والأخير، إدراك الغيب عند العرب قبل الإسلام، تطرق فيه الحديث إلى وسائل إدراك الغيب وهي: التنجيم، الفراسة، القيافة، الطرق والخط، التطير والفأل، التنبؤ بتكليم الأصنام، ضرب القداح، القرعة، الرؤيا، وأيضاً مدركو الغيب؛ وهم الكهنة.
