لابد من إعادة النظر في هذا النوع من الفكر الذي أرخى ظلاله على المجتمع العربي والإسلامي، وهذه هي الوظيفة الأولى التي تولى الحداثي العربي القيام بها، بعد أن احتضنته مراكز البحوث الغربية، ولعل هذا الهدف الإيديولوجي الصريح أو المضمر في كتابات أركون- مثلا- وغيره من الحداثيين هو الذي جعل مشاريعهم النقدية تظل محدودة من الناحية العلمية، ولا تخرج عن الدعوى المتكررة لتفكيك كل الموروث الثقافي وخلخلته وهدمه، وهي دعاوى لا تعتبر في ذاتها دليلا على البناء وامتلاك الحقيقة البديلة، لهذا نظن أن أعمال هؤلاء لم تستطع التخلص من اجترار المقولات الاستشراقية، بل إنهم أضافوا إليها في بعض الأحيان أسلوبا استفزازيا مغلفا بالطعن والتجريح للمخالفين لهم، وهذا يكشف عن العجز في تقديم البديل، مع الركون إلى التبشير بالعلوم الإنسانية والقراءة الحداثية بعيدا عن ضوابط القراءة، مع الغفلة عن الخصوصيات الفكرية والتاريخية، ما يجعل أعمال هؤلاء مثالا للفكر الإسقاطي البعيد عن الضوابط المنهجية المرتبطة بالعلوم الإنسانية عامة، خاصة إذا أدركنا حضور النزعة المعيارية لديهم، والتي تصدر عن الرؤية العلمانية، وما نقدمه في هذه الرسالة يضعنا أمام هذه المشكلات التي برزت منذ أواخر القرن العشرين إلى الصدارة، وأصبحت تضاهي القضايا السياسية والاقتصادية، إنها المشكلات الحضارية التي يشكل الدين والهوية والقيم أهم تجلياتها، حتى صارت العقود الأخيرة من القرن العشرين، وأواخر هذا العقد من الألفية الثالثة تعبر عن صراع القيم والمفاهيم الأخلاقية والسياسية، ما يتطلب ضرورة التسلح برؤية فلسفية ومنهجية نقدية قادرة على التمييز بين العلمي والإيديولوجي، فيما تعج به الساحة الثقافية والإعلامية والتربوية من خطابات ومشاريع إيديولوجية.
