هذا الكتاب يتناول بالتفصيل سيرة جلال الدين الرومي وحياته. وهو ينقسم إلى عشرة فصول سبقها مقدمات للمترجم والمؤلف. قدم المؤلف في الفصل الأول (مطلع العمر) معلومات شخصية عن جلال الدين، اسمه، وألقابه، وولادته، ونسبه، ووالده، وهجرة الأسرة من بلخ، ورحلتها، ولقاءاتها بالعلماء والأعيان. وتوقف في الفصل الثاني عند (أيام التحصيل) فذكر رحلاته العلمية وما جرى له فيها.
وأشار في الفصل الثالث (دورة الانقلاب والاضطراب) إلى التغييرات التي حصلت له، والنقلة إلى الحقيقة، ولقاءاته بأهل التصوف الذين لاحظوه، وما جرى له خلال ذلك حتى ترقى. والفصل الرابع (دور التربية والإرشاد) تناول بالحديث المرحلة التي أخذ فيها بإرشاد المريدين وتربيتهم، وذكر أحواله مع بعضهم، وبداية نظم المثنوي، أهم كتبه. وفصل الحديث في الفصل الخامس عن (نهاية الحياة) فوصف وفاة جلال الدين الرومي، وشرح حاله عند ذلك.
أما (معاصرو مولانا من مشايخ التصوف والعلماء والأدباء) فكان لهم الفصل السادس، تناول فيه المؤلف أهمهم، وترجم لهم باقتضاب حسب المقام، وكذلك جاء في الفصل السابع (الملوك والأمراء المعاصرون لمولانا) حديثه عنهم أقصر من حديثه عن معاصريه. وتوقف في الفصل الثامن عند (صورة مولانا وسيرته) فذكر ما يناسب المقام، وأشار في الفصل التاسع إلى (آثار مولانا)، الغزليات، والمثنوي، والرباعيات، وكتاب فيه ما فيه، ورسائله، وكتاب المجالس السبعة. وختم الكتاب بالفصل العاشر عن (أسرة مولانا) أبيه وأخيه، وأخته، وأبنائه. وأخيراً ألحق بالكتاب إضافات وتوضيحات لمسائل مرت في صفحاته السابقة.
مولانا جلال الدين الرومي مؤسس الطريقة المولوية، واحد من كبار الصوفية على مدى تاريخها الطويل.. من هو؟ ما مؤلفاته وأعماله؟ كيف تقلب في أصول التصوف. وماذا قدم من أجله؟ وما أفكاره؟ وما دقائق حياته؟ إلى أين رحل؟ وعمن أخذ؟
يتضمن هذا الكتاب تفاصيل في السيرة الذاتية والعلمية لمولانا جلال الدين الرومي من طفولته مروراً بأخذه علوم الشريعة وتمكنه فيها وانتقاله إلى علوم الحقيقة ونشوء مذهب المولوية، حتى وفاته. كتبت بقلم ذي أسلوب رائق في تأليفه وترجمته.
هذا الكتاب أحد كتب التصوف ذات النكهة الخاصة.
