تزخر خزائن الكتب في تركيا بالمخطوطات الشرقية (العربية والفارسية والتركية)، وقد كانت تلكم المخطوطات رهن الجوامع والمدارس الدينية أو في بيوت العلماء والأدباء والفضلاء أو عند بعض الخلفاء من آل عثمان وأعوانهم.
وقد حرص المسؤولون الأتراك على تلكم المخطوطات على اعتبار أنه تراث الإسلام، فخافوا عليه من التبعثر والضياع فعملت وزارة المعارف على جمع هذه المخطوطات وخزنها وفهرستها والحفاظ عليها. ومن المكتبات الشهيرة والكبيرة اليوم في تركيا (مكتبة متحف مولانا) في مدينة قونيا التاريخية، وتمتاز هذه المكتبة من المكتبات التركية الأخرى بأن مخطوطاتها قديمة ومذهبه ومزوقة ومجدولة وتغطي كافة العلوم، وإن قسماً منها يرجع للعهد السلجوقي أو القسم الأكبر منه جاء نخط مؤلفها وبعض نسخها مفردة لا ثان لها.
ونظراً لأهمية هذه المخطوطات فقد عمل على فهرستها في هذا الكتاب من سلسلة مخطوطات عربية نادرة، وهو يضم بين طياته جميع عناوين مخطوطات هذه المكتبة "مكتبة متحف مولانا" في قونيا، هذا إلى جانب الوصف الدقيق لتفاصيل هذه المخطوطات من ذكر لعنوانها فاسم مؤلفها، فوصفها الحالي في المكتبة، فرقمها وعدد أوراقها وناسخها وجنس خطه، وتاريخ نسخها.
