يتميز قاموس الدكتور "ممدوح حقي" بمحاولة ظاهرة لتغطية احتياجات الطالب في شتى فروع القانون والتجارة حتى ما يتصل منها بنواحي السياسة والاجتماع، وليس أدل على ذلك من معالجته المستفيضة للكلمات التي تتعرض لتبدلات في المعنى تبعد أو تقرب من المعنى الأصلي-فقد حرص المؤلف على إيراد تلك الكلمات في سياق مصطلحات اشتقاقية تحت الكلمة الجذرية (مشيراً إلى الجذر بشرطة-) وأحياناً تحت الكلمة الفرعية، مفصلاً اللاتينية ومقدّماً الأمثلة حيث تدعو الحاجة إلى زيادة الإيضاح.
ولم يغفل المؤلف المصطلحات اللاتينية الدارجة الاستعمال في المؤلفات القانونية الكلاسيكية ولا الاختصارات المشهورة التي تعرض للقارئ في مطالعاته في مجالات القانون والتجارة والسياسة والاجتماع. وبالرجوع إلى مضمون المعجم نجد أنه يحتوي على جميع المصطلحات القانونية الواردة في المراسيم والقوانين واللوائح والمؤلفات الحقوقية، وأيضاً يحتوي على ما دار على ألسنة الحكام والمحامين وفي قرارات المحاكم والأسواق التجارية والمصافق والمصارف في جميع البلاد العربية ولمزيد من التوسع في مضمون القاموس عنى المعجم بتقسيم معجمة إلى جزئين: الأول فرنسي-عربي وقصد به خدمة البلاد العربية التي ما تزال تستعمل الافرنسية، والثاني عربي-فرنسي لمن يرغب في المزيد من التوسع في الأبحاث العلمية الحقوقية ومتابعة مجالاتها ومؤلفاتها. إلى جانب هذا عني بإبراز الجذر الرئيسي للكلمة بحرف أسود بارز وألحقه بما يتفرع عنه بحرف أبيض أرق منه، واستعان عن إعادة الكلمة نفسها بخط أفعي صغير يرمز إليها وهو ما اعتاده وضاع المعاجم عليه.
