فجأة شعر بالرُّعب متيقنًا أن مرضًا خبيثًا سيقضي عليه. دمعت عيناه، ذرع الحوش حتى نهايته حيث بيته المتهدم غير المكتمل. اقتعد طابوقة وفي الوقت نفسه اقتعد المُعلِّم شُعَيب الأفريقي طابوقة أخرى بجوار محلِّ شاهين مراد في Nzega. قام أيّوب وأحضر زجاجة Rc من دكان Samir Mtoto ناولها المُعلِّم شُعَيب، ثم راقبه من بعيد وهو يتلمَّضها ويتمطَّق ويتجشَّأ وينظر إلى أيِّ مستوًى خفضت جرعاتُه محتواها. بكى أيّوب، تذكر المعلِّم شعيب أوقاتَ كان يُحفِّظهم تلك القصائد التي ما زالت موجودة بخطِّ يد Maidi Warombe في السّحّارة المُرصَّعة برؤوس مسامير ذهبيَّة: "الحبُّ للدُّنيا لِمَ؟.
الهمُّ فيها والشُّغْلُ الطَّويلْ".
