"ها ذي أخاديدُ قلبي صُفتها أدباً... تسيلُ من خلدي نوراً ونيراناً... تجري على صفحات الدهر خالدةً... أودعتها لهواة الحرف ديواناً... فالحرفُ خيرُ صديقٍ حافظٍ أبداً... لِلسرِّ والبوحِ كان الحرفُ عنواناً".
من عتبة الإهداء هذه التي يستهل بها الشاعر الدكتور محمد بن عبد الله الشدوي ديوانه ندرك تعالقات الشاعر بين (أناه) و(حرفه)، وهو يستشرف فعلها في حياته، عبر مستويات عديدة من رؤى الوجود والتخييل والذاكرة، ثم ينطلق بعد ذلك في تشييد مشهده الشفهي الذي يتوفر على مساحة واسعة من الوعي الجدلي مع فلسفة الحياة ومظاهر الوجود وماهية الشعر وموضوعه.
وخاصة أن الشاعر تعددت ثيماته في هذا الديوان وقد انتظمت تحت سقف لغوي تتقارب ملفوظاته في نسيجها البنائي وتشكلاتها الجمالية، وتتعاضد خاصيتها الفنية في خلق خطاب شعري إستثنائي يفصح عن ثقافة الشاعر الممتلئة بخزين حياتي متنوع، ولّد صوراً أشبه ببانوراما شعرية تجمع بين حب الأهل كما في قصيدة "أمي العزيزة" والتوق إلى الحب كما في قصيدة "سراب الحب" وعشق الكتابة كما في قصيدة "سأظل أكتب!!" وحب الوطن كما في قصيدة "الجيش الذي لا يهزم"، وغير ذلك مما يمتلئ به قامس الشاعر من إبداعات.
يضم الديوان قصائد في الشعر العربي الموزون والمقفى (شعر تفعيلة) وأخرى في الشعر العربي الحديث نذكر من العناوين: "الطريدة"، "زهرة حالم"، "الظبي والقمر"، "أمي العزيزة"، "الفارس العجيب"، "القاتل الأبيض"، "لواء عاشق"، "مفتاح الحياة"، "الوصل الغائب"... وقصائد أخرى.
