يرسل الكاتب محمد علي البريدي إلى العرب "رسائل من جهنم". فماذا تحمل رسائله ياترى؟ إنها تحرك موجاً من الأسئلة، من الأحلام والأوجاع، وربما الحقائق التي يراها غيرها موبقات... هي رؤية خاصة يحملها لنا المؤلف، ككل أبناء جيله الذي رفض الإستكانة، وإنبرى ليقول الحقيقة، من دون أن يستئذن من قائد قادر مرتزق، سلاحه الكلمة يغامر بها ويجتاح بها الدنيا. إنها إضاءات من منظور الشخصي لكنها تتجاوزه، أحياناً، أي دون إخفاء العلامة الثقافية الفارقة لقراءته، هي رسائل تخص البشر بأكثر من معنى، سياسي، إقتصادي، إجتماعي، ديني، ولكنها لا تفرض نفسها على القارئ وإنما إلى إشراكه مع المؤلف في هذه المقاربة التاريخية والإنطباعية. من هذه الرسائل نقتطف ما ليس فيه فرق كبير ما بين الجمرة والصفاء حسب تعبير الكاتب: "السؤال يبغي ويطغى على كل شيء، جيلنا ليش بشراً من لحوم ودماء، بل أمواج من الأسئلة وعلامات الإستفهام، جيلنا هو السؤال الكبير في عصر الفراغ، وأصنام العجوة". "تنوع الزعماء في بلاد العرب، فزعيم للسفر، وزعيم للحضر، وزعيم للزكاة والذهب، وزعيم بنهب الوطن". "بعض قرانا ومدننا الصغيرة تنتج الشيوخ بالجملة كما تنتج أستراليا العجول، لكنني ما زلت أبحث عن إمام يجيد خطبة الجمعة". "حين أمسي كهلاً أتمنى أن أتوكأ على قلم من الرصاص، وأن أعود كما بدأت: أهش على الدنيا والكلمات بقلم رصاص". يأتي هذا الكتاب "رسائل من جهنم" في مائتان وأربع وتسعون نصاً، كتبت في فقرات خاطفة وسريعة، لم يستخدم فيها الكاتب لغة المجازات كما فعل غيره من ذو الشأن المعرفي، وإنما كانت مكاشفة صريحة، وهذا ما يميزه عن غيره.
